Kootenay Precision Earthworks provides low-impact excavating for hard to access landscapes with the use of a specialized machine that can access properties/sites involving challenging and/or limited access for excavating.
Compared to conventional tracked excavators, our portable back hoe is more stable and much safer to use on hard to access sites. Its low center of gravity and adaptable stabilizers make it easy to crawl up or down steep slopes (up to 35%) and dig on uneven ground more safely as well as pass over sensitive environmental areas without causing damage. It is capable of digging 8 ft. deep with a bucket break out force of 3600 lbs into the toughest of ground conditions, ranging from hard-pan clay to excavating large boulders that weigh up to a ton. It can potentially be equipped with a thumb or an auger.
Services include digging and trenching for gas lines, water lines, irrigation, drainage, sewer lines, electrical lines, optic fiber (a unique 8 inch wide bucket is available for minimal ground disturbance), dredging ditches, preparation for septic installment, foundations, landscaping, stump removal, erosion control and slope stabilization, reclamation and any digging on sites that are accessible by helicopter or boat only. It is the way to go for mineral exploration, trail maintenance, ski hills and digging in remote areas.
Going remote? At only 1500 lbs. It can be easily and conveniently hauled in one load with an Astar helicopter. The load is naturally balanced with 3 convenient tow points to attach slings. When you set the excavator down, it is ready to go to work with no nearby fuel station required, as it only uses about 1,5 Gallons of gasoline on a full working day. You can also choose to get it towed into areas using a quad (ATV) which makes it ideal for back country hunting and fishing camps.
Owner/operator Rob van der Laan has a background and 25 years of experience as a trained Horticultural Technician in The Netherlands, USA and Canada and is an ISA Certified Arborist. On many levels this expertise can be brought as an addition to any site on a technical and horticultural level.
At Kootenay Precision Earthworks we are aiming for a less invasive form of excavating when possible and we are aware of the impact that machinery can have on the land.
We don't take it lightly, our machines will.
